AktuellesPower from ertex solar for the Velux SUNLIGHTHOUSE in Pressbaum, Lower Austria.According to the information from Velux Austria, the SUNLIGHTHOUSE is Austria’s first CO2-neutral family house. It follows the vision of day light energy creation exceeding the amount consumed and all CO2 emissions, from the property’s construction to its operation, being neutralised. ![]() copyright: Adam Mork/VELUX The energy needs are serviced by way of renewable energy sources, including amongst other things, a covering of photovoltaics from ertex solar. To accomplish the goal the roof area was covered with modules of highly efficient solar cells. In total 50 modules with 7 different geometrical shapes were employed on the roof area to optimise the installation. Whilst the installation has a capacity of 8 kW, due to the imperfect orientation to the sun, “only” a yield of circa 7,000 kWh per year is generated, which is equivalent to twice the energy consumed in an average Austrian household. One can only agree with the words spoken by the Danish Ambassador, Torben Brylle, in brilliant sunshine at the opening on the 29th October: “Without doubt this is a meaningful project which has been endorsed from above with this perfect sunny day.”
