SECOND BIPV AWARD IN AUSTRIA

NOMINATION FOR ERTEX SOLAR

The second Austrian innovation award for building integrated photovoltaics was awarded under special circumstances this year – because of the current COVID-19 situation without an audience and public celebration.

Nevertheless, special BIPV projects are to be brought before the curtain and thus five projects were nominated again and three of those were awarded with the prize. One project, in which ertex solar delivered the photovoltaic panels, was awarded and one project was nominated. The nominated project is the so-called SonnenparkPLUS in Wetzikon, Switzerland. Creating a building for the next generation – this was the vision of arento AG’s architects and thanks to the integration of two PV-systems, a battery storage system, a self-consumption manager and the resource-saving building envelope, a sustainable and holistic building was built.

The glass-glass modules from ertex solar were integrated into the south- and west-facing facades as well as the balconies. The elements are only visible at a second glance, the façade modules shine black, blue or dark purple depending on the incidence of light and impress with their outstanding design. In total, 140 custom-made modules in 25 different forms were installed. Together with the rooftop system, approximately 68,272 kWh are produced per year, as the use of solar energy is possible from almost every direction.
